The death toll from floods and mudslides in Wayanad, Kerala, India has risen to 178. According to the Kerala Chief Minister's office, the fatalities include 81 men, 71 women, and 26 children.
The number of missing persons has reached 98. In response to the tragedy, the state has declared two days of mourning.
Rescue operations are underway, with the NDRF, Kannur Defense Security Corps, and Air Force helicopters actively involved. Currently, 88 relief camps have been established, housing around 9,000 people.
The Kerala Disaster Management Department has advised residents to avoid areas prone to landslides.
